For the second consecutive semester, the class “Financial Statement Analysis and Business Evaluation”, offered by Dr. Angelos Angelakis, collaborated with the Austrian branch of Deloitte, based in Vienna. This partnership aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing students with an opportunity to work on real-world case studies in the field of Valuation and Analysis.
As part of this collaboration, students were divided into eight groups and tasked with addressing real problems encountered in the accounting industry. This hands-on approach not only enhanced their critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also deepened their understanding of practical applications in professional services.
The student group presentations took place on December 17 and 19, during which each team showcased its findings and proposed solutions. Deloitte professionals attended these presentations, provided feedback, and shared insights. Additionally, students had the chance to engage in discussions with Deloitte staff, gaining a clearer understanding of career pathways within the firm and the broader professional services sector.
The students found the experience enriching and engaged in meaningful conversations with Deloitte staff. Both Dr. Angelakis and Deloitte professionals emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering collaboration between academia and the corporate world, highlighting the mutual benefits for students and professionals alike.
